Series IV 'Stiletto' True Knife-edge Assembly

Knife-edge focusing the easy way The True Knife-edge Assembly, available as an option with the Series IV, lets the user experience true knife-edge focusing the easy way. While designed with the perfectionist in mind, using it  with the Series IV allows even novices to easily get a handle on this approach.   The True-Knife Assembly simply swaps in place of the  ronchi screen in the 'Stiletto' housing.  No recalibration is necessary.  Pull the ronchi screen out, and then snap  the True-Knife in.  It's that easy.

    Additional 'Stiletto' Ronchi Screens

Resolutions for special applications                                                           The standard model Series IV comes with a 180 line/inch ronchi grating installed.  There may be occasions, however,  when a higher resolution screen may be desirable.  This depends largely on the darkness of your sky and the objects you are focusing on.  In general, darker skies permit you to use a  higher resolution screen which, in turn, results in more precise focusing.   You may also find it worthwhile to use a higher resolution grating when using your equipment with a field reducer or coma corrector to compensate for changes in depth of field.  An additional black chromium ronchi screen is available in a 300 lpi resolution as well as the True Knife-edge Accessory above.
