Introduction

Series IV 'Stiletto' and CVF Series II units are precision camera focusers used primarily in astrophotography.

Both types of focusers are extremely easy to use. They are self-contained units which work in standalone fashion, and not add-ons to your camera. No modifications to your camera are needed at all. They simply take the place of your camera during the focusing procedure.

Since our units have a front mount identical to your camera's, our focusers attach to the telescope or spotting scope in the same way your camera does now. No special attachment adapters are ever needed for any of our products. No matter how you are attaching your camera, a Stiletto or CVF focuser will attach to the same accessory.

If you have several different cameras, add on 'Extra Stiletto Camera Mounts' as you need them.   Mounts use the very same Series IV or CVF Series II body, so you do not need a completely new unit when you purchase a new camera.

All of our products rely on a simple swap-in, swap-out technique for achieving focus. You attach the unit to focus, and then replace it with your camera to frame and take the actual picture. It's that easy!

Series IV 'Stiletto' models rely on knife-edge focusing principles to achieve precision focusing. During this procedure the user sees a pattern of dark ronchi bars on a lighted background, but not the actual image. This is the best way to focus on night sky objects where a pinpoint light source is available, such as a star.

All  CVF Series II models, on the other hand, use a what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach by magnifying the actual image on special focusing screens in the unit. It may be used during the daytime, as well as at night. For deep-sky photography, however, the Series IV 'Stiletto' is preferred.
